About the Event

From: Presidential Search Committee

A listening session has been scheduled for the Presidential Search Committee to receive input from faculty, A/P faculty, staff, and students in the greater Washington, D.C., area. The purpose of this session is to allow members of the university community to share their insights on the characteristics they seek in the next Virginia Tech president.

The listening session will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, in Classroom 3100 of Academic Building One in Alexandria. There will also be a zoom option available here (VT credentials required).

A search for Virginia Tech's 17th president began in April when President Tim Sands announced that he would be stepping down once a successor is in place.

In preparation for the listening session, Isaacson, Miller has asked participants to consider:

  • the key opportunities and challenges the next President will encounter
  • subjective or informal measures for determining the success of this individual
  • organizational activities that need to be sustained, enhanced, or initiated

A survey is also currently available here should you be unable to attend or like to provide additional input.
